Assam Heritage & Wildlife Journey

Day 1: Arrival & Guwahati Sightseeing
  • Arrive at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station.

  • Visit the Maa Kamakhya Temple on Nilachal Hills – one of the 108 Shakti Peethas and a sacred seat of Tantric traditions. The hilltop offers spiritual ambiance and sweeping views of Guwahati.

  • Board a ferry to Umananda Temple, located on the smallest inhabited river island in the world – Peacock Island, named so by the British for its resemblance to a peacock.

  • After lunch, enjoy India’s longest ropeway (2 km) across the mighty Brahmaputra River – an 8-minute scenic journey offering stunning aerial views of the river, Umananda Temple, and the surrounding hills.

  • Explore Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, a cultural complex that beautifully represents Assam’s art, heritage, and lifestyle.

  • Evening darshan at the majestic Purva Tirupati Shri Balaji Temple.

  • Overnight stay in Guwahati.


Day 2: Guwahati – Kaziranga National Park
  • Morning drive to Kaziranga National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the one-horned rhinoceros).

  • Check in at the hotel and refresh.

  • Evening visit to Kaziranga National Orchid Park (Durgapur Village, 12 km from Kohora):

    • Over 500 orchid varieties.

    • Rock garden, rice museum, herbal & fruit gardens.

    • A bamboo park with 54 species of bamboo.

    • Cultural performances and a guided nature walk.

  • Overnight stay in Kaziranga.


Day 3: Kaziranga Safaris – Majuli Island
  • 5:30 AM: Start the day with an Elephant Safari (own expense) in the Bagori (Western) range, an ideal time to spot rhinos grazing in the grasslands.

  • Return for breakfast at the hotel.

  • Post-breakfast, enjoy a Jeep Safari in the Kohora (Central) range.

  • Later (around 10 AM), drive towards Majuli Island, the world’s largest river island, with a 2-hour ferry ride across the mighty Brahmaputra River.

  • Experience rural life, scenic river views, and the peaceful charm of this unique island.

  • Overnight stay in Majuli.


Day 4: Majuli Sightseeing – Sivasagar
  • After breakfast, explore Majuli’s rich Vaishnavite culture and historic Satras (monastic institutions):

    • Kamalabari Satra – known for its classical art and culture.

    • Dakshinapat Satra – famous for traditional dance and drama.

    • Auniati Satra – noted for its religious relics and cultural treasures.

    • Benegenaati Satra & Tengapania – highlighting Majuli’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

  • After lunch, drive to Sivasagar, the ancient capital of the Ahom dynasty.

  • Overnight stay in Sivasagar.


Day 5: Sivasagar Heritage Sightseeing
  • After breakfast, explore the historic attractions of Sivasagar, once the seat of Ahom rulers:

    • Rang Ghar – Asia’s oldest amphitheatre.

    • Talatal Ghar – Ahom-era palace with underground passages.

    • Siva Dol Temple – one of the tallest Shiva temples in India.

    • Sivasagar Tank (Barpukhuri) – an artificial lake built by the Ahoms.

    • Kareng Ghar (Gargaon Palace) – royal palace showcasing Ahom architecture.

    • Charaideo Maidam – burial mounds of Ahom kings, known as the “Pyramids of Assam”.

  • Overnight stay in Sivasagar.


Day 6: Sivasagar – Jorhat (Tea Experience)
  • Drive to Jorhat

  • Visit a tea estate & tea factory (plucking, processing & tasting experience – subject to operational days)

  • Optional visit to Tocklai Tea Research Institute (exterior)

  • Evening at leisure in Jorhat

  • Night stay in Jorhat


Day 7: Jorhat / Guwahati Airport Departure
  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Drive to Jorhat Airport or transfer to Guwahati Airport / Railway Station for onward journey
