Assam Wildlife & Heritage Trail

Day 1: Guwahati – Manas National Park
  • Arrive at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station, the gateway to Northeast India.

  • Drive through scenic landscapes towards Manas National Park (approx. 200 km from Guwahati).

  • Check in at your lodge / resort surrounded by nature.

  • Evening at leisure to relax amidst the serene wilderness.

  • Overnight stay in Manas National Park.


Day 2: Safari Adventure in Manas
  • Early morning (6 AM), set out for a thrilling jungle safari:

    • Elephant Safari (own expense) OR

    • Jeep Safari (own expense).

  • Explore the 950 sq. km expanse of Manas, located on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River.

  • Declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 1985, Manas is also a Tiger Reserve & Elephant Reserve.

  • Wildlife spotting opportunities include:

    • One-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalo, golden langur, pygmy hog, hispid hare, and roofed turtle.

  • Evening free for relaxation at the lodge.

  • Overnight stay in Manas National Park.


Day 3: Manas – Tezpur – Nameri National Park
  • After breakfast, drive towards Nameri National Park.

  • En route, visit Tezpur – the City of Eternal Romance, known for its mythological legends and scenic beauty:

    • Mahabhairab Temple – dedicated to Lord Shiva.

    • Agnigarh Hill – linked to the love story of Princess Usha and Aniruddha.

    • Chitralekha Udyan – a beautiful riverside park with sculptures and ponds.

  • Continue the drive to Nameri National Park.

  • Check in and unwind amidst lush greenery.

  • Overnight stay in Nameri.


Day 4: Nameri Trek & Kaziranga Transfer
  • Early morning guided trek through Nameri National Park (200 sq. km), one of Assam’s most scenic reserves, cut across by the Jia Bhoroli River.

  • Wildlife sightings may include: tiger, leopard, sambar, wild dogs (dhole), gaur, Himalayan black bear, sloth bear, capped langur, and Indian giant squirrel.

  • Paradise for bird lovers – home to over 233 bird species and exotic orchids.

  • Optional activity: Rafting on the Jia Bhoroli River (direct payment / subject to weather conditions).

  • After lunch, drive to Kaziranga National Park – famous for its one-horned rhinoceros.

  • Overnight stay in Kaziranga.


Day 5: Kaziranga Safaris & Orchid Park
  • 5:30 AM: Early morning Elephant Safari (own expense) in the Bagori (Western) range – perfect to spot rhinos in their natural habitat.

  • Return to hotel for breakfast.

  • Post-breakfast, enjoy a Jeep Safari in the Kohora (Central) range of Kaziranga.

  • Evening visit to Kaziranga National Orchid Park (Durgapur Village, 12 km from Kohora):

    • Home to 500+ orchid varieties.

    • Attractions include a Green House, Rice Museum, Rock Garden, Medicinal Herbal Garden, Bamboo Park (54 species), and Folk Cultural Performances.

    • Nature walk trails with vibrant flora and fauna.

  • Overnight stay in Kaziranga.


Day 6: Kaziranga – Guwahati Departure
  • After breakfast, check out and drive back to Guwahati Airport / Railway Station for your onward journey.
