Glimpses of Assam – Temple, Culture & Wildlife Tour

Day 1: Arrival & Guwahati Sightseeing
  • Arrival at Guwahati Railway Station / Airport, the gateway to Northeast India.

  • Visit the Maa Kamakhya Temple on Nilachal Hills – one of the 108 Shakti Peethas and a revered seat of Tantric worship. The hilltop offers a spiritual atmosphere along with panoramic views of Guwahati city.

  • Take a ferry ride to Umananda Temple, located on the world’s smallest inhabited river island – Peacock Island, named so by the British for its unique shape and beauty.

  • After lunch, enjoy a ride on India’s longest river ropeway (2 km) across the mighty Brahmaputra River – an unforgettable 8-minute journey offering breathtaking aerial views of the river, Peacock Island, and the Umananda Temple.

  • Explore Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, a cultural hub that beautifully showcases Assam’s art, heritage, and lifestyle.

  • Evening darshan at Purva Tirupati Shri Balaji Temple, a magnificent replica of the Tirupati temple in South India.

  • Overnight stay in Guwahati.


Day 2: Guwahati – Sualkuchi – Hajo – Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary
  • After breakfast, drive to Sualkuchi, fondly known as the Manchester of the East, where you can witness traditional silk weaving including the famous Assam Silk (Muga & Eri).

  • Proceed to Hajo, a unique place of religious harmony, housing:

    • Hayagriva Madhava Temple – a significant Vaishnavite shrine.

    • Powa Mecca – an important pilgrimage site for Muslims.

    • Kedareswar Temple – dedicated to Lord Shiva.

  • After lunch, drive to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts.

  • Check in at a jungle resort and soak in the serene natural surroundings.

  • Overnight stay in Pobitora.


Day 3: Pobitora Safari & Departure
  • Early morning elephant safari (optional, at own expense) in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, which boasts the highest density of the famed one-horned rhinoceros.

  • Return for breakfast at the resort.

  • Drive back to Guwahati Airport / Railway Station for your onward journey with fond memories of Assam’s temples, culture, and wildlife.
