Assam & Meghalaya Discovery Tour

Day 1: Arrival – Guwahati Sightseeing
  • Arrive at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station.

  • Transfer to your hotel and check in.

  • In the afternoon, take a chartered ferry ride to Umananda Temple, situated on Peacock Island – the world’s smallest inhabited river island, known for its beauty and tranquility.

  • In the evening, enjoy a sunset river cruise on the mighty Brahmaputra, one of the world’s greatest rivers. The golden hues on the water make this a magical experience.

  • Overnight stay in Guwahati.


Day 2: Guwahati Sightseeing – Shillong
  • Early morning, visit the Maa Kamakhya Temple on Nilachal Hills – one of the most important Shakti Peethas in India, famous for its Tantric significance.

  • Drive towards Shillong, the charming capital of Meghalaya, often called The Scotland of the East.

  • En route, stop at the picturesque Umiam Lake, a man-made reservoir surrounded by pine-covered hills, ideal for photography and relaxation.

  • Evening free for shopping and leisure at Police Bazaar, Shillong’s bustling market.

Day 3: Excursion to Cherrapunji – Return to Shillong
  • After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunji (Sohra), renowned as one of the wettest places on Earth.

  • En route, visit the stunning Elephant Falls.

  • In Cherrapunji, enjoy sightseeing at:

    • Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint – panoramic vistas of deep valleys.

Day 4: Shillong – Dawki & Mawlynnong – Shillong
  • After breakfast, drive to Dawki, near the Indo-Bangladesh border.

  • Stop at Shillong Peak, offering stunning panoramic views of the city and surroundings.

  • At Dawki, enjoy boating on the crystal-clear Umngot River, where the boats appear to float on air due to the river’s incredible transparency.

  • Later, proceed to Mawlynnong Village – acclaimed as the Cleanest Village in Asia.

    • Visit the Living Root Bridge (Single Decker) – a marvel of bio-engineering.

    • See the unique Balancing Rock.

    • Climb the Sky View bamboo tower (85 ft), offering breathtaking views of Bangladesh’s plains.

  • Evening return to Shillong.

Day 5: Shillong – Laitlum Canyons – Guwahati
  • After breakfast, check out and visit Laitlum Canyons, a hidden gem near Shillong, famous for its dramatic gorges, rolling hills, and panoramic views of Meghalaya’s rugged landscapes.

  • Explore Shillong city highlights:

    • Ward’s Lake – perfect for a peaceful walk and boating.

    • Shillong Golf Course – one of the oldest and largest natural golf courses in Asia.
